July Monthly Update - Our Happy Little Boy
Greetings from Haiti, Brandon and Ambur!
It is certainly good to be back in Haiti and back at GLA with your children! I know that many of you have been praying for me while I have been sick, and I certainly want to thank you for that! I appreciate your patience with me, and I am also grateful to the GLA staff and volunteers who made sure you got your updates while I was in the States recovering. As you may know, another of our office staff, Laurie, has also been diagnosed with Hepatitis A, and she can certainly use your prayers at this time.
Much has changed at GLA in the three months I was gone; children have gone home and new children have come in. I have also seen many changes in your children who are still at GLA. In a small way, I have gained a new appreciation for what you must go through at home, knowing that your children are growing and changing in a country far away. I would like to assure you, however, that your children are loved and being well taken care of in your absence.
While I was gone I got a new computer and, unfortunately, I am experiencing a glitch with my email. I have not yet been able to read emails that were sent before my return in July. I have also been unable to read the updates that were sent out during my absence, so I apologize if I am repeating information. I was gone a long time and what is new to me may not be new for the children or for you.
This month it seemed appropriate to have a bug theme for your children’s photos. We certainly have our fair share of bugs in Haiti, and many of your children are fascinated by the bugs they see. The older kids, especially, enjoy capturing and/or observing whatever bugs they may find. This is also a good reminder:
The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. ~Psalm 24:1
Steevenson is such a vocal little boy! He has always been one to make his opinions known, but these days he is chattering almost constantly. Steevenson is a child who has much to say! He is getting closer to actually speech and is actually using some common nursery words for things.
Steevenson continues to be very happy… unless you take away something he wants. Then he gets this cute little pout while he tries to decide if it is worth it or not to cry. Usually he can be distracted, however, especially if the object he desires is put out of sight.
Steevenson is continuing to work on walking, and is able to do so when he is holding onto someone’s hand or the furniture. He just needs a little better balance and he will be walking on his own!
Weight: 18 lbs 12 oz
Height: 28.5 inches (72.5 cm)
Adoption status: Parquet
*I will continue to include adoption status in your monthly updates. If you want to check on your current adoption status between updates, you can continue do so online at glahaiti.org. This site will continue to be updated regularly. If you need password or login information for this site, please let me know.
Dixie has decided that she wants all updates to be sent out by the end of the month, rather than the weekly schedule we had been following. From now on everyone should receive their monthly updates at the end of each month.
Blessings,
